Hi I’m Audrey and I am a 1st year on the Raiderettes! I am a driven, resilient, hardworking girl with a passion for dance and caring about my teammates. When I’m not dancing I enjoy my gym time, studying nutrition, and working in corporate as a Digital Marketing Coordinator. The most important thing I value is to have an identity, make an impact, and motivate others to be the best versions of themselves, inside and out.
Growing up in sports, I fell in love with fitness, and the adrenaline rush I get from working hard. In my early years I played soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse, gymnastics, dance, and was even recruited to be a part of a bowling team! Funny looking back on it, but I truly had a love for physical exercise, teamwork, and hand-eye coordination. I’m very open about my ADHD, but I don’t think a lot of people know what it has taken for me to manage that throughout my life. Learning in a traditional classroom was especially difficult. But if you tried to test me on math facts while I was doing cartwheels, I would excel! This is when I realized I needed sports in my life to be able to exercise my brain and body, hand and hand. Many ask “How are you able to do both? How do you balance 2 huge jobs? Aren’t you burnt out?” The answer is no, I am always looking forward, seeing the big picture, pushing myself to work harder, and do more, in every setting.
When working a 9-5 and a 6-10, it can be hard to find time for myself. But being a list maker, I am task trained, and organize every part of my day. I am grateful to have made the Raiderettes a few weeks before I even graduated college, with my Bachelor’s degree in Communications, and Minor in Journalism! But being a fresh graduate, jumping into corporate straight out of college was definitely a lifestyle change… one that I was more than ready to take on! First, I recognize what makes me happy/calm, and stressed/overwhelmed. From there, I look at my day to figure out how to productively get my tasks done while improving my physical and mental health. This can include what foods make me feel good, what podcasts make me learn, and what loved ones I schedule out time for. I like to share my values on social media, such as listing recipes, answering questions, motivating others, encouraging determination, and being a role model for not only everyone, but young girls to look up to.
I am somebody that needs athletics in my life. It’s the reason I attended my college, and the reason I moved to Las Vegas. Being able to exercise my brain during the day in corporate, and then body at night on the field, makes me feel like a machine. I owe my parents the world, for always seeing my potential and believing in me. “We have always known that Audrey would excel at something. Not quite sure what, but definitely something very active. It would be moments when we would be traveling between the soccer field (where she would score the winning goals) then right in the car to the dance competition (where she would win high awards for her dance talents) that I knew she was really quite special” said my mom, Jill Alavi. I am so appreciative to have had such great role models in my life, my mom and dad. “We knew early on that Audrey was going to be a high flier. Her ability to pick things up quickly, understand people and always had a persistence on what she had sights on” said my dad, Rod Alavi. I always felt accepted at home, whether that was showing my bursts of energy, racing thoughts, creative ideas and games, or spontaneous actions. My parents never made me feel like my ADHD could stop me, but rather helped me see it as a powerful mechanism to excel. Through all I manage, recovery is important, to take care of my mind and body. I always make sure to pack my practice uniform before work, which includes our top, shorts, nylons, boots, nikes, and most importantly, my Apolla compression socks. These socks help provide support for my feet, while I work at the field or in the office. I couldn’t imagine a practice without them, the compression helps me work hard, comfortably! Thank you, Apolla!
