How To Wear Your Socks
Frequently Asked Questions
My Apolla socks feel very tight. Should I exchange for the next size up?
Apolla Socks are compressions socks for women and men, however, sometimes men are not used to wearing tight garments and think they are TOO tight. They are designed to provide a snug, supportive fit, and that is what makes them effective support and relief. It's normal for these compression stockings to feel tight at first, especially if you're new to graduated compression socks. However, they shouldn't feel painful or restrict your circulation.
If you're unsure about the fit, consult our size chart. If you're between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up. You can also check out our size chart for women's compression socks. We offer free exchanges, so you can try a different size if needed.
What if I can't get my compression socks on?
Our high-compression socks can be a bit tricky to put on at first, but we have some tips!
- Inside Out: Turn the sock inside out, up to the heel.
- Toe First: Put your toes all the way in.
- Gradual Pull: Gently pull the sock over your heel and up your leg, smoothing as you go.Still having trouble? Watch our how-to videos on this page
If none of our tips or tricks work, please email us at info@apollaperformance.com. We may need to get you in a different size, or an easier-to-don profile. Remember, we offer free exchanges and returns! If we can’t find an exchange for you, we will send you a label for a free return.
Can I wear my Apolla Socks with other footwear, like shoes or sandals?
It depends on the style of Apolla Sock! Many of our styles, especially our compression socks, are designed to be worn with shoes (everyday shoes OR dance shoes) for added support and comfort. Some, like the Performance Sock, are ideal for athletic shoes and everyday wear. Others, like our open-toe Joule, are perfect for wearing with sandals or open-toe shoes.
If you're looking for a no-show sock with plantar fasciitis sock support and ankle support, the AMP is a great option that can be worn discreetly with most closed-toe shoes. We also have compression leg warmers that can go with any shoe or Apolla Sock and are wonderful for aching legs or knees.

What is the difference between Sock and Shock?
Is it a sock or a Shock?! Let us clear up any confusion - The dance sock version, dancers call them SHOCKS because they're like having the benefits of a SHOe and the comfort of a soCK. With the added option of grip, they easily replace dance footwear. To everyone else, they are the best compression socks in the world! So while we started with dancers, you may see both terms "Shocks" and "socks" - just know they are the same thing, not a typo!
My Apolla Socks make my feet hurt! What should I do?
Apolla Socks are designed to be supportive and comfortable, but sometimes, initial discomfort can happen, especially if you're new to compression socks or have sensitive feet.
Here are a few things to check:
Sizing: Make sure you're wearing the correct size! Refer to our size chart. If you're between sizes, we usually recommend sizing up, especially for women's compression socks. Too-tight socks can cause pain and restrict circulation.
Gradual Introduction: If you're not used to compression, start with shorter wear times and gradually increase them as your feet adjust.
Underlying Conditions: If you have a pre-existing foot condition like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, or neuropathy, your feet might be more sensitive. We recommend consulting with your doctor or a podiatrist to ensure Apolla Socks are right for you.
Specific Style: Certain styles, like those with high compression levels, might feel more intense. Try a different Apolla Sock profile with a lower compression level, like the Performance Sock or the AMP.
Remember, we offer free exchanges and returns! If you're experiencing pain or discomfort, don't hesitate to contact our customer support team at info@apollaperformance.com. We're happy to help you find a solution that works for you.
I don't feel a difference, is there a problem?
First, check if you're wearing the correct size by referring to our size chart. If your socks are too loose, you won't feel the full benefits of the compression. If you're between sizes, it's often better to size up, especially for women's compression socks.
Keep in mind that everyone experiences compression differently. Some people feel an immediate "wow" moment, while others may experience more subtle benefits that build over time. Give them a few days or even a week of consistent wear to see how your body responds. You might notice gradual improvements in comfort, reduced swelling, or less fatigue. Pay attention to how your feet and legs feel during and after your usual activities. You might notice a difference in your performance, recovery time, or pain levels, especially if you suffer from plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendonitis.
