Patented, Science-Backed, Made-in-the-USA Quality is just the beginning.
The Performance Shock was designed by professional dancers Kaycee Jones and Brianne Zborowski specifically for dancers who need real support, not just fabric on their feet. Unlike regular dance socks that provide zero arch support, zero ankle stabilization, and zero compression, the Performance Shock combines APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression with refreshable traction you can customize for any floor surface. The patented arch and ankle support technology lifts and stabilizes your arch like custom orthotics while providing ankle stabilization at key ligament insertion points to help reduce the risk of rolled ankles and arch injuries that plague dancers at every level. The refreshable traction lasts as long as the sock itself and restores with every wash. No replacement grip pads or adhesive strips needed. The crew-length design works with most dance attire and costume requirements while the moisture-wicking fabric keeps feet dry through long rehearsals and performances.
All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses with no prescription required. Made in USA. Joy C. switched from regular dance socks and noticed the difference immediately. "Best ALL-AROUND DANCE SOCK. Best dance sock PERIOD. Does not bind my toes. Provides the support I have been needing in my arches, and really cuts fatigue. I will only be wearing Apolla socks from now on."
Yes, the Performance Shock works brilliantly on both marley and carpet surfaces thanks to the refreshable traction technology that can be adjusted for different floor types and friction levels. For slick marley floors, the full traction grip provides reliable floor connection for turns, leaps, and directional changes. On sprung stages common at conventions, the traction naturally adapts to give you the right amount of grip without catching or sticking. For high-friction carpet surfaces, we recommend using a non-traction pair to preserve the longevity of your traction socks. The refreshable traction lasts as long as the sock itself and restores with every wash, so you never need replacement grip pads or adhesive strips regardless of which surfaces you dance on. The APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression with patented arch and ankle support technology provides consistent support regardless of what surface you perform on.
The compression, arch support, and ankle stabilization at key ligament insertion points work the same everywhere. All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses with no prescription required. Made in USA. DeAnna Nolan dances on multiple surface types and found the perfect solution. "My feet feel so much better now and I can walk around in these with ease. Great traction for contemporary and jazz dancing. Amazing socks. They feel great and are perfect for dancing!"
To refresh traction on the Performance Shock, simply wash your socks in a mesh laundry bag on gentle cycle and air dry or tumble dry on low heat. The patented grip technology reactivates automatically during the wash cycle as the fibers reset and the traction surface refreshes. For quick touch-ups between classes when you need immediate grip restoration, lightly dampen the grip area with water or apply E6000 spray adhesive for a completely fresh layer of traction. Because the traction is refreshable by design, it lasts as long as the sock itself. That means years of use with proper care, unlike other dance socks where the grip wears off permanently after just a few months of use.
Washing your Apolla socks also helps the APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression conform better to your unique foot shape, so the patented arch and ankle support technology feels even more comfortable over time. Avoid using fabric softener or bleach which can degrade the elastic compression fibers and traction surface. All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses. Made in USA.
Laura B. has experienced the durability firsthand. "This is my 3rd pair of these socks and only needed because I outgrew my first pair. And bought two this time. The durability alone is amazing but they feel amazing."
Yes, the Performance Shock is perfect for dance conventions where you are taking back-to-back classes on different floor surfaces throughout an exhausting multi-day weekend. The APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression reduces leg fatigue and improves recovery between sessions by improving blood flow and flushing the lactic acid buildup that makes your legs feel heavy and sore after intense classes. The refreshable traction adapts smoothly to marley, wood, and sprung stage surfaces. For carpet surfaces common at conventions, we recommend switching to a non-traction pair to preserve the longevity of your traction socks. The patented arch and ankle support technology provides consistent support throughout long convention days, stabilizing your arches and ankles at key ligament insertion points to help reduce the risk of injuries when fatigue increases your risk.
Many convention dancers pack multiple pairs and rotate between class sessions and recovery periods throughout the weekend for optimal performance. All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses with no prescription required. Made in USA. Our 90-day satisfaction guarantee with free exchanges means you can try them risk-free.
Jessica B. noticed the recovery difference at competition. "I ordered these socks for my daughter who does competition dance. The minute she put them on she felt relief. Now she wears them not only for recovery but during some dance sessions."
The Performance Shock excels in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, musical theater, tap inside shoes, and any dance style where you need reliable grip combined with APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression and patented arch and ankle support technology. The crew-length design works naturally with most dance attire and costume requirements, making it the most versatile Apolla style for dancers who take multiple class styles throughout the week. The refreshable traction option lets you customize your grip level for your specific discipline and floor type, from slick marley to sprung stages. For carpet surfaces, we recommend using a non-traction pair to preserve traction longevity, and the traction lasts as long as the sock itself, restoring with every wash. For ballet pointe work, the Joule open-toe compression sock for barefoot dance and studio work is the better choice since it fits inside pointe shoes with its open-toe and open-heel design.
For jazz shoe replacement, the AMP Shock no-show compression sock with built-in traction provides a no-show design with built-in traction. For half-sole and pirouette shoe replacement, the Alpha offers standalone footwear with built-in compression. All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses with no prescription required. Made in USA. Amanda J. wears the Performance Shock for multiple dance styles. "LOVE LOVE LOVE these socks!! They are so comfortable and supportive! They make my Contemporary classes SO much better!! Worth every penny."
I battled a complete plantar fasciitis tear in my foot and while in recovery, tried to rotate through about a dozen different shoes with temporary relief. When I saw these socks advertised online, I immediately thought I have nothing to lose and I’m so glad I did but these. I have been able to walk 10k steps with no pain !
I tried out the Performance Socks while wearing my boots to line dance. Best decision! I absolutely love my Apolla socks. At first I had a tough time getting them on because they were really tight. But I absolutely can’t deny my feet did not hurt at the end of the night.
Wore these one time and they developed a hole on a seam during international travel. Extremely unhappy for the price.
Socks have been very helpful for reducing swollen ankles and feet.
I have CRPS in my foot and have worn some sort of compression sock for years now, I danced and had a pair of the Apolla Joule socks and would wear either one or both of those on my foot. I’d been meaning to get a pair of compression socks and decided to get these, and I genuinely can’t put into words how much I love these socks. They’re supportive and I genuinely feel less pain when I wear them it’s genuinely almost magical. I can’t recommend these socks enough, I need to buy more pairs!

y daughters tried the Apolla Turning Sole socks and fell in love immediately. First thing they noticed? The bright pink color. As a dance mom I can confirm that color absolutely matters to a seven year old and these delivered.
Beyond the look they are genuinely functional. We have been using them as a replacement for jazz shoes during home practice and conventions and they work perfectly. They are comfortable, easy to throw in the dance bag, and my girls said they felt more secure and confident turning in them.
If you are looking for a practical and fun alternative to jazz shoes for conventions or home practice these are it. My daughters are converts and honestly so am I.
I love the support these socks offer! It took me a bit to get used to them, but they provide excellent support and I love that they are crew length! However, they IMMEDIATELY pilled and got loose strings! These socks come at such a high price point that I am honestly disappointed. I wore them once to work and even before washing them, they look like I’ve worn them for months! 4/5 of the pairs I bought have had this issue! Lower the price point, or improve the longevity of the product.
Ana,
Thanks so much for your order and for sharing your feedback. It looks like you may not be aware that we guarantee satisfaction with free returns and exchanges. We stand by our products 100%. Looking at the pictures, some of it is normal and some of it needs to be addressed further! Please email our customer service team at info@apollaperformance.com so we can troubleshoot with you and make sure you get what you need. In any case I assure you we guarantee the socks will last 6-9 months but they will likely last longer. We look forward to hearing from you so we can make this right!
These socks are amazing, especially for long color guard rehearsals! The compression provides all day arch support while the open toes and heal allow for superior control. Highly recommend!
I’ll be honest. It takes a lot for me to write a review. I started using Apolla after a dance friend recommended them to me for my lymphedema. I started using them for tracks, for workouts, for dance, for everyday swelling. I have been running n Disney for 7 days and was really worried about walking since I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago. Apolla socks have been an “ankle saver” and given me the support I need for my ankle AND kept the swelling at bay. The best part? They are so comfortable because of the roomy toe box. If you are on the fence, just buy the socks. Worth every penny!
I LOVE my Apolla socks! As a dancer the non- traction socks are great for turning! I would definitely recommend them for any dancer! 💕
Both my daughter and I have ankle problems. These socks really do make a difference. She had a terrible ankle injury in college and they help her to continue running. I’m looking forward to trying different styles.
Best compression sock ever. I’ve tried a lot of compression socks because of a foot issue and these are the best I’ve found. Snug going on but just right once they are all the way on. My feet feel fantastic
We're so happy to hear that our compression socks are the best you've found for your foot issue. We look forward to providing you with more fantastic products in the future!
My daughter wears them to compete. She took first for her solo in them last weekend. I’d say they are working out great!
I am a professional circus artist who uses my feet a lot in all my disciplines. These socks have completely transformed my recovery. 100 million stars.
I love everything about The Performance shocks! I’ve had my last few pairs for literally years and they’re still in great condition. I just purchased 3 more pairs to be able to wear them more often and the new color options are amazing. The support is so crucial for dancers, and the height of the performance is perfect because it doesn’t shorten your leg line. I’m an apolla fan for life!
My 8 year old has a rigorous dance schedule but has struggled with pointing her feet without pain since spraining her ankles multiple times (even after acupuncture and icing and heat therapy). Since she has started wearing these socks, her pain has gone away and she's not reinjuring herself or having pain pointing her feet anymore. Even if she goes a day barefoot without anything in her master classes now-- the pain DOESN'T come back. She was wearing her one nude colored joule pair religiously every day, so I got her more colors to go with her different dance shoes and ballet attire which is a little stricter. I also got her the mid-calf performance socks to wear with sneakers for hip hop and just simple day to day recovery when she's running around just having fun being a kid. I even got my 35-year old self a couple of pairs as I too have sprained both ankles over the years. I am SO happy with the ease these socks have brought my daughter. Seeing your kid be able to happily dance her heart out without the stress or anxiety or suffering...it's priceless!
Feels so good one your feet! I’m a dancer recovering from an ankle sprain, and I wear these when I dance now, and I don’t have pain while dancing (untill I take them off that is hehe). Definitely expensive, but buying one pair frok apolla is better than buying 5 pairs from another brand.
My daughter is majoring in dance at LMU and takes 10 dance classes. She wears the performance socks to support and protect her feet. I just bought her two more pairs that she wears daily for dance classes and when she performs at shows. She loves the performance sock!
Cushioning around toes is great. Excellent arch support. More comfortable than other compression socks.
When you wear foot orthotics sometimes it’s nice to have the support and relief without wearing shoes. These socks are worth the weight in gold. Comfortable, streamline and the compression and support are amazing. Bought one pair and plan on buying a whole lot more in different styles. They are everything the company says they are and more. Be prepared to be amazed! Try one pair and you will be ordering more. They are that great.
